Embattled Board of Public Utilities President Jeanne Fox made a fast and not at all subtle exit tonight from a New Jersey Women’s Political Caucus Awards dinner, just as State Sen. Jennifer Beck was about to receive the Barbara Boggs Sigmund award. Beck, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, is leading the movement to deny Fox another term at the BPU.
Fox’s husband, Democratic political consultant Steve DeMicco, worked against Beck in the 2007 election as then-State Sen. Ellen Karcher’s chief strategist.

Patronage + Mismanagement + Global Travel = Too Bad
Poor Jeanne. Maybe she should not put bank accounts off the State books, hire blatant patronage employees including a Cipel relative in times of fiscal crisis, and grossly mismanage a patronage mill where cronysism is rampant. Now she should walk out of State government altogether and do everyone a favor.
DeMicco has nothing to do with this..
The fact is Jeanne Fox mismanaged the BPU and "misplaced" $83 million of ratepayer money into a secret account in Wachovia bank.
Not to mention the globe trotting the BPU members did on the backs of taxpayers.
With corruption and government waste and inefficiency being top priorities there is no way we should reward people like Fox with a re-appointment after so poorly handling the BPU.
You go, girl
Good job by Fox in making a scene and highlighting the fact that she is under intense criticism for her appalling mismanagement of the BPU and public funds. She should have just sat there quietly counting the cash hubby took home for the great work on the Karcher campaign.
And the headline on this piece should have been "Fox Bolts Henhouse"
Jen Beck is no Barbara Boggs Sigmund
Isn't this award given for the breath and depth of work towards women's equality? Why was beck honored. She hasn't worked on behalf of women's issues in her past life and she just got to the Senate. This sounds wrong headed on the part of the Women's Political Caucus. Maybe Fox walked out in protest!
Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job
Steve DeMicco did a bang up job for Ellen Karcher.
Fox should have taken the high road here. Sit there nicely and clap, its a nonpartisan event.
Surprised? NOT!
typical behavior of a woman who believes she is above reproach -- the arrogance of stealing ratepayer monies to deposit into a bank so a member of her posse could reap financial gains and the group of them ie, Queen Fox and her Posse, could become cognisors of world travel.
Not surprised she would display partisan behavior --
Allegations are not facts
Beck's calls for blood are starting to give her the appearance of a tyranical "queen", not Fox. Beck is clearly enjoying chewing up Fox and spitting her out before she has had her day in court. The truth is, allegations are not facts. The clean energy program was a totally new program, the first of its kind in New Jersey and is now rivaled only by California. Not that the ends justify the means, whatever they were (who really knows?) But it is an undeniable fact that since Fox and her agency launched the program a few years ago, investment in renewable energy has exploded. Now New Jersey residents, businesses, schools and municipalities are having their investment in clean energy pay for itself, selling back to the grid- making a profit and potentially reducing tax burdens. A few jobs have been created. Who knows, maybe even a few municipalities in Beck's district have reaped some of its benefits. But I guess it is always easier to criticize from the sidelines.
Although energy rates have sky-rocketed, we are not in the
DARK. Regardless of this program being the "first of its kind", the fact is the New Jersey Department of Treasury has rules and regulations that govern the way funds are to be handled. Queen Fox and her Posse, in their ignorance, disregarded this and proceeded on their worldly jaunts. Moreover, they lied about getting approvals from the AGs Office and, when questioned by a career service Chief Financial Officer, began retaliating against him. Senator Beck gets it and like a elected representative is supposed to do, she is pursuing the interests of her constiuents!
If you are happy with the way business is being done in Trenton and the highly paid incompetence then you obviously aren't part of the solution and therefore must be part of the problem!
go get em Senator Beck!!!
Allegations ARE NOT facts -
VERY TRUE and I commend your ability to point this out. However, AUDITS performed by an unbiased body and conclusions drawn ARE facts. Hence, Queen Fox and her Posse are going down!
