Warchests

Of the 435 members of the U.S. House of Representatives who will take office in January, New Jersey's Frank Pallone has the second biggest warchest -- $2,412,888 cash-on-hand, according to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission. Four others are in the top 10%: Rob Andrews ($2,212,314) ranks fifth, Steven Rothman ($1,740,319) ranks tenth, Frank LoBiondo ($1,386,710) ranks eighteenth, and James Saxton ($1,231,791) ranks 26th.

I guess they all jumped up a notch when Menendez became a Senator. But they still couldn't match any of Menendez's fundraising abilities.

Frank P. missed his shot when he backed out in 2002. He would have beat Doug Forrester, though by a little less than Laudie beat him. After that he was revealed as twiddling and indecisive, which is also Andrews' problem with a lot of North Jersey Democrats. That is why Menendez got the nod in 2006 because he had been waiting since 2000 but could be trusted to carry out the mission despite his baggage.

Pulaski-- agree w/ everything you said; except the part about Northern attitudes towards Andrews. He's built up a lot of cred lately, and, perhaps was one near-endorsement from Essex in the '97 primary from winning that race, and maybe the subsequent general election.

Mr. Democrat-
I had a Democrat close to Ferriero tell me about this time last year that theres very little love for Andrews in the North and they will unquestionably back Representative J-Date for the Senate if Lautenberg retires.

Also who would be up for an NJ Insider political meeting at the Skyway Diner?
