New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has a 70%-22% approval rating, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released this morning. Governor Jon Corzine had an upside-down 37%-52% approval rating in the most recent Quinnipiac poll of New Jersey voters.
And for those who follow politics in the Garden State suburb, the Quinnipiac poll shows New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly as the first choice to succeed Bloomberg as mayor next year; Kelly leads Rep. Anthony Weiner, 23%-16%, followed by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz (13%), City Comptroller Bill Thompson (10%); City Council President Christine Quinn (10%) and Public Advocate Betsy Gotbaum (6%).
