Susan Bass Levin, the former Cherry Hill Mayor and state Community Affairs Commissioner, became the Acting Executive Director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey – the first woman and the first New Jerseyan to run the powerful bi-state agency. She will hold the post until the authority picks a replacement for Anthony Shorris. Traditionally, New Jersey gets the Port Authority chairmanship and New York gets the Executive Director post, which means that the top job now goes to Gov. David Paterson.
Apparently, the GOP vice presidential nominee -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin -- has come as a huge surprise to Democrats.

Not the First New Jerseyen
Levin may be the first woman to be ED of the Port Authority, even if its for a short period as acting executive director, but she's not the first New Jerseyen. I believe the guy who was Deputy Executive Director on 9/11 was from New Jersey and he took over as acting executive director when Neil Levin died that day.
How long will she be at the top?
Let's hope Paterson moves expeditiously in choosing his replacement, if he's anything like his NJ counterpart, Levin will be the acting head for Paterson's tenure as Gov and that won't be good for either state!
Her Level of Incompetence
Ladies and gentleman, may I introduce to you . . . (drum roll) . . . The Peter Principle!
Susan Bass Levin = A total joke.
Here we have the chief enabler of the EnCap debacle getting a promotion for her outright incompetence instead of being investigated for her inability to get anything accomplished!
* Why wasn't she part of Inspector General Cooper's investigation into EnCap?
* Why isn't US Attorney Christie investigating what exactly happened on her watch at DCA and the NJMC that left the project now on the verge of bankruptcy?
* Now she's enjoying the perks of a SECOND public pension courtesy of taxpayers!
* She is also on the Local Finance Board and pulling down another government salary. So much for the end of double-dipping!
Thanks Governor Corzine for appointing this idiot to a another high-ranking position of responsibility!
Given all the money she's made off the government, I guess the joke is on the taxpayer as usual!
This is a perfect example of how so called, liberal reformers can work the system for their own benefit. I hardly doubt she found this position therough the want ads!
The gravy train keeps on chugging along!
