McCain's delegate slate: Bennett beats Beck

Republican presidential candidate John McCain will file a slate of delegate candidates today that represents huge representation from supporters of his vanquished rivals – there are more Rudy Giuliani supporters on the ticket than early McCain backers, and the list includes some Mitt Romney backers.  None of Mike Huckabee’s state campaign leaders are running as McCain delegates, and retiring Rep. Jim Saxton, who backed Duncan Hunter, was not offered a delegate slot.

There was a fairly fierce internal battle over delegates in District 12, where State Senator Jennifer Beck and former Senate President John Bennett -- both originally Giuliani supporters – were both in competition for one Monmouth County slot.  Adam Puharic, the Monmouth GOP Chairman, picked Bennett, designating Beck for an alternate slot.

The McCain delegates:

At-Large Delegates: Former Gov. Tom Kean, State Sen. Bill Baroni, Judith Eisenberg (the wife of GOP fundraiser Lewis Eisenberg), Senate Minority Leader Tom Kean, Jr., Assembly Minority Leader Alex DeCroce, Joann Gilmore (the wife of Ocean County GOP Chairman George Gilmore), and McCain fundraisers Cheryl Halpern, Joseph Shmuckler, Lawrence Bathgate, and Munir Kazmir.

Alternate At-Large Delegates: Rita Shade, Francisco Dominguez, Stephanie Zarach, Joe Leo, Amanda Layton,

Lynda Pagliughi, Rob Ortiz, Ann Kievet, and Alan Herman.

District 1: Rick Mroz, Rick DiMichelle and Loren Oglesby.  Alternates: Terry Kasko, Jeff Booker and Wayne Brehn.

District 2: Keith Davis, Jim Curcio and Michael Donohue.  Alternates: Patricia Finley, John Bettis and Floss Butler.

District 3: Barbara Lenuto, Thomas Kellaher and Rick Stroebel.  Alternates: Aubrey Fenton, Annemarie Emmons and Lisa Bialoskurski.

District 4: Marie Smith, Sean Kean, and Ruthanne Scutaro  Alternates: Robin Visconi, Claire French, and Suban Rogers.
