TANELLI CALLS ON NA GOP TO CONDEMN KAISER FOR LOW INCOME HOUSING SUPPORT

North Arlington Council President Steve Tanelli today called on the North Arlington Republican Council candidates James Herrmann and Jim Bocchino to condemn NJMC Commissioner and former Mayor Leonard R. Kaiser for his “enthusiastic and unequivocal support” backing hundreds of Low Income Housing apartments in North Arlington and neighboring towns.

 “The real question,” Tanelli asked, “is whether Herrmann and Bocchino are going to stand up for North Arlington against the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission proposal seeking to put 5,000 Low Income Housing units on our doorstep.”

"The local Republican Party needs to join the rest of North Arlington in our universal opposition to EnCap,” Tanelli said. It's very disturbing that this year’s Republican council candidates do not support the borough's intent to void the EnCap deal and move forward with a proposal that homeowners want and support," said Tanelli, who was elected to the council in 2004 and re-elected in 2005 in landslide victories.

NORTH ARLINGTON - North Arlington Mayor Peter Massa today said EnCap's decision to back out of a controversial bonding scheme is vindication for the Councilmembers and North Arlington residents who oppose the embattled high-density housing project.

EnCap has insisted for months the current financing as presented was financially viable. They are now forced to go back to the drawing board with a new application that protects homeowners in North Arlington, Lyndhurst and Rutherford from financial risk. This application may not be ready for months.
