GOVERNOR CORZINE ORDERS FLAGS TO FLY AT HALF-STAFF TO HONOR ASSEMBLYMAN ARTHUR R. ALBOHN 

TRENTON – In honor of Assemblyman Arthur R. Albohn, Governor Jon S. Corzine signed the following Executive Order calling for the United States and New Jersey flags to fly at half-staff on Tuesday, July 8, 2008.

The full text of the executive order is below.

“This is a blatant attempt by the McNerney Democratic machine to expand the reach of county government so they have more money to spend and more jobs to hand out. This is the kind of political empire building that we have to stop in Bergen County,”

Assemblyman David Rible today said that Governor Corzine’s failure to meet a June 30 deadline for producing recommendations for achieving a goal of reducing state greenhouse gases is another example of Corzine’s rhetoric not being backed up by his actions.

Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande and her husband, Mr. Steven Chance, announced that Assemblywoman Casagrande gave birth to Harrison Frederick Chance at 2:18 this morning. The baby was 9 lbs. 6 oz. and 21 inches long. Mother and child are doing well and resting comfortably.

Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon responded to Governor Jon Corzine’s comments this morning that he would only consider a gas tax hike as a “last resort” by noting that Corzine was given a realistic alternative by Republicans in the Legislature and refused to consider the plan.

Governor Corzine could have supported a constitutional amendment that permanently banned budgets that rely on non-recurring revenue. Instead, he used an executive order that can be rescinded by him or any future governor with the stroke of a pen.
