MENENDEZ OWES NJ COLLEGE STUDENTS APOLOGY
-If he really cared, he'd tell Corzine that balancing budget on the backs of students is wrong -
Trenton, NJ - New Jersey Republican State Chairman Tom Wilson released the following statement today:
"Three weeks ago Bob commended Jon Corzine for his budget plan that relies heavily on tax increases and cuts in aid to higher education. It's dishonest for him to stand before students today and pretend that he has their best interests at heart. When given the chance to stand up for New Jersey students and taxpayers, Bob Menendez chose to stand up for politics as usual instead. Rather than having the guts to stand up to Corzine and tell him his budget spends too much, taxes too much, and hurts students too much, Menendez called the budget responsible and honest.
Bob Menendez owes these students more than self-serving political rhetoric and election year promises. He owes them an apology for aiding and abetting the most violent attack on the affordability of a higher education in the history of our state."
