THE MISPLACED PRIORITIES OF NJ DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP
State Party Leaders Fret Over Kitschy Entertainer, But Embrace Menendez Amid FBI Subpoena
Apologies owed to Stonewall Democrats and People of New JerseyTrenton, NJ - Republican State Chairman Tom Wilson issued the following statement today in response to a column by Tom Moran in yesterday's Star Ledger) The column dealt with an incident which occurred at the NJ Democratic State Committee conference over the weekend (http://www.nj.com/columns/ledger/moran/index.ssf?/base/columns-/11581270...) :
"It says a lot about the Democratic leadership that they were more worried about how the 'public' might react to a female impersonator than they are about having as their standard-bearer a man whose actions are the subject of subpoena from the US Attorney. They tried to shut down a man who dresses in women's clothing in the name of kitschy entertainment, but gave center stage to a man who put $300,000 of the very taxpayer money he helped secure into his own pocket? This is a party being lead by folks who've clearly lost their perspective about what really matters to the overtaxed, corruption-weary, working families of New Jersey.
The DSC owes Steven Goldstein and the members of the Stonewall Democrats an apology for overreacting to the entertainer they hired for their reception. And after they apologize to them, they should apologize to the people of New Jersey for defending a politician who's been caught using his office to line his own pockets."
