Leaders of Hillary Clinton’s New Jersey campaign organization are strongly denying rumors of internal strife and conflicts over the selection of lobbyist Karen Kominsky as her state campaign director, despite a push from key fundraisers to name Christy Davis-Jackson to the post.
The selection of Kominsky, a political veteran close to Gov. Jon Corzine, caused some bruised egos among the Clinton’s chief fundraisers last week, but it hasn’t caused discord in the campaign, one Clinton Finance Committee member told PoliticsNJ.com.
Sources say a group of major New Jersey Democratic fundraisers, who became known informally as “The Group” earlier this year because they agreed to back one presidential candidate, were disturbed about last week’s hiring of Kominsky to head the campaign over their first choice, Davis-Jackson. Davis is the wife of the Rev. Reginald Jackson, the Executive Director of the Black Ministers Council of New Jersey and a member of “the group.”
The fundraisers complained that they were not properly consulted on the pick, and found out about the decision through a press release, according to sources.
Another Clinton campaign advisor, lobbyist Harold Hodes, had strongly advocated for Kominsky, according to people familiar with the campaign. Corzine had also signed off on Kominsky over Davis-Jackson, who had been the Co-Campaign Manager of his 2000 U.S. Senate primary campaign.
But John F.X. Graham, a Co-Chairman of Clinton’s State Finance Committee, was quick to dismiss any talk of a split or power struggle in the campaign.
“People misread things and make it a divisive thing,” said Graham. “That happens because we’re riding so high right now. People want to put a worm in the apple.” Graham said that he initially supported Davis-Jackson, who he believed was most qualified for the job and could have helped court the state’s African-American vote. He was not very familiar with Kominsky before her selection, but warmed to her almost immediately.
“At first there was a feeling, maybe anticipation and disappointment,” said Graham. But now that he’s talked to Kominsky, Graham said his worries have abated. “She turned out to be an excellent choice. She’s been very cooperative, understanding and smart. I didn’t know her at the beginning and I know her now.”
Graham denied any infighting, saying that he understands that Corzine runs the political end of the campaign.
“We’d be cutting our nose off not to want the governor to lead the delegation,” said Graham.
Another major fundraiser, Michael Kempner, said that any disagreement between the “The Group” and the governor had blown over.
“My opinion is that while Christy would have been a great candidate, Karen Kominsky is also a terrific candidate,” said Kempner. “I think people are much closer together than they are apart.”
Kominsky, a former Deputy Chief of Staff to Gov. James E. McGreevey and the wife of Hunterdon County Democratic Chairman David Del Vecchio, seemed unaware of any spat over her hiring. “I’ve received a warm welcome from everyone,” she said.

Kominsky = Director of Fraudulent Homeland Security Grants
Why does Corzine reward people who were responsible for McGreevey's homeland security scandal. Don't believe it? Ask her what her role was? There is a paper trail showing her direction of the scandal a mile long and noone does anything about it. Hillary... you gonna take advice from her about how to politicize homeland security?
Hmmm....
Maybe it is ignorance on my part, but I do not see what the fuss on the local, county, and state level is about this campaign and its efforts in New Jersey. Even when it comes to local mayors and other executives announcing their support of her candidacy. It all seems strange to me. Does anyone really believe that the Clinton Campaign would suffer any without these endorsements? Especially if you read the polls about 'Jersey Folk' dissatisfaction with government affairs and their elected representatives. New Jersey is in the bag for Clinton or Obama. And especially Clinton, so long as the package remains "Bill and Hillary" And we can thank Republicans and George Bush for their continued actions that will make this a reality. Let us keep our eyes on the prize, and that is the true battleground in 'Middle America.' Let us focus all of our attention on it. ~P. Alonzo Harris Jr.~

Who cares!
Please both are "B" level talent at best.
Christy Davis Jackson was
Christy Davis Jackson was the only qualified choice to represent New Jersey. She was investigated by the US Attorney, had to leave her job at UMDNJ because of a scandal, and was caught running her lobbying firm from her office at UMDNJ. That's New Jersey! Now the Clinton campaign is just going to have a qualified, likeable and unscathed professional woman representing them and running the show. It's a sad day for all of us when we lose our image.
HAROLD HODES, GET A LIFE!
All of this buzz about internal problems in the NJ Clinton Camp is nothing but a bunch of bluster.
Harold Hodes needs to put his ego aside and start learning how to deal with the big boys. You know who the big boys are: Graham, Jackson, DeCottis, Kempner.
Karen Kominsky is a wonderful person, not to mention a real talent - good pick Hillary. Now, everyone put their egos aside and let's start raising some freakin' money. Ciao...

Come on....
Karen is one of the most talented operatives in Trenton. She doesn't run around tooting her own horn, and prefers to stay low key, which is what gives her the ability to do what the job actually is -- PROMOTE HER CANDIDATE. It's amazing how some people just need to constantly need to feel self important by grandstanding. Bottom Line - highest ranking elected Democratic official in this State endorses a candidate, and then chooses who will direct that candidate's campaign in this State. Period. Kudo's to the Governor for recognizing talent rather than going with a self-promoter.
Campaign
Not for nothing, but the last two Democratic Campaigns for president were run by women and they were flat out awful. This is war with the Roveettes and we need people who are prepared to spill blood--a lot of it.
Harry is way off....
So a man will do a better job and the last two presidentials lost because a woman was in charge? Give me a break. Don't underestimate Karen's abilities.
Karen Kominsky
Folks who know Karen are applauding this as a great choice to head up Mrs. Clinton's NJ campaign. People who know and have worked with Karen know of her commitment, drive and overall wonderful sense of the political landscape. All who write otherwise are either ignorant or jealous of her being chosen. For a change, a talented person was chosen amongst a group of almost or never made it.
Blogging
Since I'm new to this, I wonder why bloggers seem to lack the nerve to use their real names, choosing instead to hide behind cute aliases that mask their real identities. Is it simply lack of the guts it takes to stand behind what they say? Or is there some arcane reason that I have missed? Irv
