Leading National Political Pundits Converge in New Jersey for AFP New Media Conference
Training Seminar Held For Conservatives to Gain Upper-hand on Internet
TEANECK, NJ – More than 150 local citizen leaders and activists worked hand-in-hand Saturday with leading political opinion makers to become more effective conservative Internet activists.
Hosted by the New Jersey chapter of Americans For Prosperity (AFP), a grassroots free-market organization, the training seminar, RightOnline, was held at the Glenpointe Marriot in Teaneck, featuring nationally recognized leaders in conservative media such as John Fund from the Wall Street Journal and Matt Lewis of Townhall.com.
“RightOnline challenged the conservative army of New Jersey bloggers and New Media specialists to turn the tide in the online political battle,” said Steve Lonegan, Executive Director of AFP-NJ. “The e-mail is the musket of today’s conservative revolution, and the blog is heavy artillery.”
One in a series of seminars, RightOnline equips conservatives with extensive training on New Media outlets such as YouTube and Facebook. These mediums have been well utilized by left leaning activists in recent political campaigns. RightOnline plans to even the playing field by turning concerned citizens into community activists.
“This really was an eye opening experience,” said Sharon Soon, an activist from Essex County. “I never thought that regular people can have so much influence on our politicians and the laws they propose.”
Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is the nation’s premier grassroots organization committed to advancing every individual’s right to economic freedom and opportunity. AFP believes reducing the size and scope of government is the best safeguard to ensuring individual productivity and prosperity for all Americans. AFP educates and engages citizens in support of restraining state and federal government growth, and returning government to its constitutional limits.
