AFL-CIO stays neutral in senate contest
By Max PizarroThe AFL-CIO today issued a release pledging to remain neutral in the Democratic Primary contest between U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg and U.S. Rep. Rob Andrews.
The office of AFL-CIO President Charles Wowkanech said the labor organization's executive board delivered a vote of overwhelming support for Lautenberg when Lautenberg was matched against prospective candidate Tom Byrne.
That was before Andrews entered the race last night.
Today, the executive committee considered Lautenberg versus Andrews, and could not reach a two-thirds majority in favor of either candidate.
The result is the statewide organization will remain neutral, while respecting the right of local labor affiliates to back the candidates of their choice in the U.S. Senate contest.

Finally, courageous unions took the stand.
That is no stand. This is better than take a stand and expose itself. Just in case one wins over the other, we can claim that we did not know about it.
Let the games begin
Time for the candidates to court all the member unions. This will be a boon for the AFL-CIO.

Charlie's been nothing more than a democratic supporter with union money. Everytime you see him, he's supporting democrats! Hope he sees the light by hitting the pike. Time for more moderates instead of democrat operates.
