Ortiz ascends to Republican State Committee

Former Bergen County Republican Chairman Rob Ortiz has landed as the Republican State Committee’s new finance chairman.

Ortiz, who was ousted two weeks ago as the Republican chairman in Bergen County, wrote an email to his friends and supporters announcing the news, and said that he would make Bergen County one of his fundraising priorities.

“As the largest county with the largest number of registered Republicans in the state, Bergen is crucial not only to reinvigorating the GOP from the grassroots up and identifying future candidates, but is also a crucial must-win county in any statewide campaign effort,” he wrote. “As such, Bergen will remain a key concern for me as it should for every Republican around the state.”

Ortiz made the $200,000 he raised for the Bergen Republicans the cornerstone of his reelection campaign for the position.

"I look forward to using my experience at the federal and county levels to renew and revitalize NJGOP’s fundraising efforts,” he said.

What an insult!

This illustrates the state party's attitude towards the rank and file pretty accurately.

House cleaning

This flipping off of the voters of Bergen County by Tom Wilson all the more demonstrates why Dr. Sabrin was correct, that the NJ GOP is dysfunctional and hopelessly corrupt to its core, and the only way to remedy the situation is to have a complete and total house cleaning.

Oh shutup Rick

It's fundraising! Who the hell cares?!

Now go collect your paycheck from a Democrat, Rick.

Thank You Mr. Wilson

May I have another?

congratulations Rob

Great Job in Bergen. Left them with a lot of cash NJ really needs your excellent fundraising and management skills

RIck

What really illustrates your attitude is when you work for Democrats in North Arlington.

Nice job with Unanue!

Maybe he can bring the same success statewide that he did pushing through "NIghtclub Andy" Unanue as a US Senate candidate!

Ortiz is a disgrace!!

Ortiz should switch parties along with the horse he road in on, Kevin O'Toole.

The NJGOP is just like our government, it punishes success and rewards failure. Ortiz should have been disbarred for his actions in the 2007 Bergen County Freeholder election campaign. I guess that Lawyers are above the law.

Wow you folks are really bitter ...

Get a kitten or something. Maybe a lollipop.

War's over gang ....move on. All that happened is that someone who runs an organization that depends on fundraising just engaged someone with a track record of being a successful fundraiser. No one was insulted or slapped in the face.

Even the people who opposed Ortiz in Bergen did so for reasons unrelated to fundraising.(regardless of what might have been spent broy, the fact remains that he raised more than was raised in the prior 2-3 years.) They also weren't clamoring for his banishment or dismemberment, they simply elected someone new.

Instead of railing, why wouldn't you just wish him well and say, "golly i hope he can raise money so we can try to elect republicans"

Rob Ortiz clubs baby seals

Rob Ortiz clubs baby seals and drinks their blood before fundraisers!

God - even so called Republicans (and anyone who would support Sabrin/Paul are not Republicans but libertarians) are so caught up in personal hatreds that they can't even work together to support the politicians who are working to get them the money they need to win.

Money doesn't grow on trees guys - the GOP needs fundraisers like Ortiz so we can have a shot at winning

The GOP needs a message

The reason the state GOP (or the nationals for that matter) raises no money is because it stands for nothing, clearly apparent in recent election returns. Once the state party (or the national party) gets a message, they will raise money. It's that simple.

This tired crap about "ethics" and "reform" appeals to no one except elitist snobs, which is exactly the image of the Republican Party too many people have today.

These individuals are more interested in keeping control of their little country club than actually winning elections. As long as this same crowd is in power, Republicans will continue to lose critical elections in this state.

Maybe with his fundraising

Maybe with his fundraising abilities, the GOP can afford their payroll.

As long as the GOP

keeps harping on snakehandling social issues such as abortion, gay rights and guns, we aren't going to win elections. It is the money in people's pockets that really matters.

Citizens and businesses are leaving the State because of taxes and our cr@ppy schools. Even the Dems can't figure this out. Cryan and Caputo, the other weekend, only had our diversity as an asset for NJ.

Mountaintop

You nailed it.

Grover Nordquist said: "If the Republican Party was the party that never raised taxes it would be in power forever." Spending = Taxes.

We are not stupid, they claim to cut taxes but increase spending, duh. They insult the intelligence of their own members.
