KYRILLOS: NJ CONTINUES TO LAG IN JOB CREATION

Senator Joseph Kyrillos (R-Monmouth/Middlesex) issued the following statement in response to the Department of Labor and Workforce Development’s report which showed that 86 percent of new jobs added in October came from the public sector, further proving that New Jersey continues to lag in the creation of private sector jobs.

“The latest report by the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development confirms what I have been saying for a long time that New Jersey needs a new strategy to attract private industry to the state. The policies of the last six years have damaged the state’s economy.

The Governor and the Legislature should work to implement strategic tax cuts that affect businesses, reduce the state’s budget deficit, which prevents New Jersey from investing in high growth industries, and create a new economic agenda focused on bringing private industry to the state.

Our way of life depends on businesses locating and flourishing in New Jersey. We are not only competing with other states, but with countries around the world. Making sure that conditions are favorable and resources are available for creating jobs should be a top priority for the Governor and the new Legislature.”
