Kate Whitman for Congress? She's More Than Just My Daughter

Also, how should this obvious contribution of significant value be reported on Kate's FEC forms?  I'd imagine that a feature ad on this site running for the next few weeks would be fairly pricey.

Once again, the arrogance of privilege rears its ugly head.  You've shamelessly abused the unique opportunity you have been given by PolitickerNJ to improve our state's political climate, opting instead to pervert your position in an underhanded attempt to promote your objectively unremarkable spawn.  And drop the "she's more than just my daugther" crapola, Christie.  Just the fact that Kate chooses to use the hereditary title "Whitman" belies her inherent qualifications for this high office.  Her name is her sole credential.  

I will be reporting this column to the FEC myself if I don't find it listed as a a contribution from either you or PolitickerNJ on Kate's next election report. 

To the editors of this site -- if you have even an ounce of journalistic integrity left, you will IMMEDIATELY PULL THIS COLUMN AND HAND MS. WHITMAN HER WALKING PAPERS.  

Why are you using logic and understanding in a blog comment... we should be destroying this woman for loving and being proud of her daughter... shame on you for being reasonable.

I'm not supporting Kate or anyone yet for that seat but I'm willing to hear her (and everybody) out before passing judgement. No wonder you took your name from Martine One

Although I am not in the 7th district, I commend Governor Whitman for using this fourm in praise of her daughter. Politicker NJ serves as a fourm to discuss relivant political events. This Primary will be the most interesting one in June. I believe that there are 99 reaons why Governor Whitman should write about the primary and the fact that her daughter is running is just one.

So much for trying to shed the "I'm not my mother" image...

Did you check to see if Bob Torricelli's blog endorsing Hillary was reported as a contribution?

Did you demand that Politicker NJ send Bob his walking papers?

It is perfectly fine for any parent to write an oped in support of her daughter or son, regardless of what objective they may be trying to achieve.    There is no need to get personal in response.     

Now, since this is a political blog, I think it's perfectly fair to debate whether or not this is a good campaign tactic that benefits Candidate Kate.   I would say it's not, but in the true spirit of the blogosphere, I would love to hear the other side of that coin.      

Truthfully, I've been impressed with what I've seen and heard from Kate. Saying " I'm more conservative than my mother" was a great move and it took guts...certainly not the actions of someone living off mommy's name.

Plus, I've heard from many different sources that she's hustling her butt off, working the county committee folks and meeting with anyone and everyone who could possibly be helpful.

She has a long way to go and she's still an underdog to Lance, but from afar it seems to me she's doing everything she should be doing to EARN the nomination.

If your daughter is anything like you, we don't need her screwing up Washington the way you screwed up Trenton.  Most of the fiscal mess in Trenton can be laid squarely at your feet.  In a nice bit of irony, one of the only legislators who had the balls to vote against that stupid tunnel and pension funding plan way back when is probably going to wipe the floor with your daughter and end up as the GOP nominee for the 7th district:  Leonard Lance. 

This in-kind contribution/free advertising is an abomination and had better be disclosed to the FEC.

The comedian Carlos Mencia uses a certain phrase to describe people like Kate Whitman:

Christie Whitman started the borrowing schemes that Democrats have used to destroy this state.  Of course Kate says she is more conservative than her RINO mother, there are Dem's more conservative than her mother!

And for Christie to use her column here to. . . well. . .  I won't use the slang David Shuster used to describe Chelsea Clinton's campaign work. . .  but for Christie Whitman to use her column here to promote her daughter is unsavory, in my humble opinion. 

Honsetly, will the other candidates have their mommies write a column for us too?  The smartest thing Katie can do is to tell her mother not to do any favors for her.

Why don't you Whitmans just go away?  Haven't you screwed things up enough in New Jersey?  You are like the uninvited guests who showed up at the party and then peed in the punch bowl.  We have had enough of your presence and would now just like you to leave.  Don't go away mad.  JUST GO AWAY !!!   

After reading up on Kate, her story checks out with this Republican.  I was dead set against her when I first heard she was running(obvi, because of the name) but after hearing she was "not her mother", I chose to put my support behind her.

One could clearly see her arrogance at the hearings about her roll on 9/11.  SAY NO TO THE WHITMAN'S !!!
