KARCHER RECEIVES LABOR ENDORSEMENTS

KARCHER RECEIVES LABOR ENDORSEMENTS

Karcher record of supporting working families earns support of NJ AFL-CIO and NJ Building & Construction Trades Council

FREEHOLD – Senator Ellen Karcher (D-Monmouth and Mercer) announced two critical endorsements in her campaign for re-election to the State Senate. Karcher received the endorsement of the New Jersey AFL-CIO, the State’s largest labor organization, which represents over 1,000 local labor unions and over 1 million members throughout New Jersey. Karcher has also been endorsed by the New Jersey State Building & Construction Trades Council, which represents over 150,000 building and construction trades workers.

“I am proud that organized labor -- whose support was critical to my first election in 2003 -- is supporting my re-election,” said Karcher. “I have always worked to promote the issues that matter to working families – fair wages, workplace safety, access to quality healthcare, and improving our schools. I know the challenges that working families face, because my family faces them too, and I will continue to be an effective advocate for families in Trenton.”

Karcher’s record on issues concerning working families includes supporting raising the State’s minimum wage, sponsoring expanding prevailing wage requirements and sponsoring the “Family Health Care Coverage Act.” She has also been an outspoken advocate for the rights of casino workers in Atlantic City to organize.
