LAMPITT ISSUES MULTIMEDIA PACKAGE ON GROWING 'GREEN-COLLAR' JOBS IN THE GARDEN STATE

(VOORHEES) - Assemblywoman Pamela R. Lampitt (D-Camden) today issued a multimedia package on her efforts to position New Jersey as a leader in growing "green-collar" jobs - jobs in business and industry that have a positive environmental impact.

The multimedia package consists of a video op-ed on the topic, audio of same and a copy of the script as delivered.

"New Jersey's nickname is "The Garden State," which is appropriate, as we produce some of the best cranberries, blueberries, and tomatoes the world over.

"In the 21st century, however, there is another way the state can live up to its nickname:  by going green.

"Specifically, by embracing the growing "green-collar" job movement that is spreading throughout the nation.

"Green-collar jobs are jobs in business and industry that have a positive environmental impact.

"And according to a recent report, New Jersey is uniquely suited to become a home to these types of new jobs.

"We have an incredibly strong, innovative, educated and diverse workforce.

"Along with Governor Corzine's energy master plan to achieve 30 percent of our energy through renewable sources by 2020, green collar jobs will be on the rise, producing 20,000 new jobs within our state.

"Going "green" would play right into our state's greatest strengths.
