REINHART'S TWISTED PRIORITIES PART II

Burlington County Freeholder Director Aubrey Fenton said today that his opponent, Shamong Township Committee member Mary Anne Reinhart, voted against funding a portion of the cost of conducting background checks for adults involved in supervisory capacities for youth athletic teams and activities.

“In yet another example of her incredibly misplaced priorities, Reinhart cast the only negative vote on a 2007 proposal for Shamong Township to pay 25 per cent of the cost of background reviews for individuals involved with athletic teams on which township youngsters played,” Fenton said.

“While opposing what would in all probability have been a nominal cost to assure youngsters were safeguarded from adults with questionable or criminal conduct in their past, Reinhart accepted salary increases for herself for several years in a row and spoke out in support of spending $600,000 to pave a road with seven houses on it, one of which was owned by a personal friend of hers,” Fenton said.

“Her sense of balance, a belief that it is her obligation to act in the best interests of Shamong Township’s citizens and taxpayers, seems to be non-existent,” said Fenton’s running mate, Freeholder Stacey Jordan.

“Reinhart’s record is littered with a history of skewed priorities and her opposition to paying a portion of the cost of background checks is the latest example,” she said.

“She voted against a Green Acres loan from the state to finance the Township Recreation complex and she voted on three different occasions to deny a paid leave of absence for a part time township employee deployed to a combat zone in Iraq,” Jordan said.

“Placing private interests above the public good while holding elected office --- such as accepting salary increases and supporting expenditures to benefit the convenience of friends --- is unacceptable behavior,” Fenton added.  “Yet, Reinhart is guilty of such acts repeatedly.  Her priorities are as distorted as her judgment.”
