Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise: Corrupt Vendor Can't Hang On To
Ill-Gotten Gains By Slandering Senator Bob Menendez
Latest attempt by disgraced psychiatrist who bilked taxpayers to avoid
re- paying residents of Hudson is doomed to failure says DeGise.
Jersey City, NJ Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise reacted with anger
today at the latest attempts by Dr. Oscar Sandoval to muddy the fight
between the disgraced psychiatrist and the people of Hudson County.
"Oscar Sandoval wormed his way into the pockets of our taxpayers
through bribery and disgraceful professional practices," said DeGise.
"He has manipulated a patient, the political process and now the media
in an effort to hang on to taxpayer money he wasn't entitled to in the
first place."
"We are trying to clean up Hudson County and make people like Oscar
Sandoval pay back to the people what they stole through illegal
practices," said DeGise. "Shame on Tom Kean Jr., for aligning himself
with such a person in an attempt to score cheap political points."
Earlier this year, Hudson County entered into civil litigation against
former County Executive Robert Janiszewski and host of vendors who were
involved in a range of schemes to gain contracts through illicit
payoffs to Janiszewski.
Janiszewski, who resigned in September 2001, is currently serving time
in federal prison.
The County is seeking return of the amount of the contracts paid, the
bribes paid, and treble damages.
Yesterday's stories sparked by Sandoval are not his first attempt to
spin the press about the millions in contracts he won through illegal
means and the current suit against him. In press reports in Hudson's
local daily newspaper, he attempted to malign a County policy of
bringing more and more vendor-aasigned work in-house that was
established after Janiszewski left office.
While the actions described in the 1999-2001 period in yesterday's
stories pre-date DeGise's tenure as County Executive, He noted that the
move to take contracts in house, and away from outside vendors actually
saved taxpayer dollars by increasing the amount of state
re-imbursements. It is a policy that has continued during his
administration.
"Oscar Sandoval paid for his contracts with bribes," said DeGise.
"When those contracts expired Janiszewski wasn't there to keep them for
him, plain and simple."

News flash Tom. That's what a snake does! Boss Bob should probably know that better than anybody. Ever hear of a think called Karma? What if Menendez ratted out Bill Musto so he could assume his power as Hudson County Party Boss by exchanging testimony for immunity from prosecution? If that's the case, then what goes around, comes around.
Oscar is a snake who played a lot of people for fools and it caught up with him. As a result, he was forced, just like Bob Janiszewski to give people up.
Oscar Sandoval destroying Bob Menendez's political career with damning evidence would merely be the snake eating the rat.
