Howlett is Corzine's new Communications Director
By EditorGov. Jon Corzine is expected to name Star-Ledger reporter Deborah Howlett as his new Communications Director. Howlett has been covering Corzine as a Star-Ledger statehouse reporter. She replaced Anthony Coley, who left in December.
Howlett is the second Star-Ledger staffer to leave this month. Tom Moran, the newspaper's political columnist, has taken a post with PSE&G.
Corzine's press secretary is Lilo Stainton, a former Gannett statehouse reporetr. Stainton joined Corzine's staff two years after leaving New Jersey.

State Hiring Reporters
Aside from purchasing The Star-Ledger, The Record and The Asbury Park Press, Corzine's next best bet is hiring all of the reporters so they won't be able to say those mean things about his asset monetization plan, er, debt restructuring plan, er, Ponzi Scheme.

Howlett wrote a story in yesterday's paper re: Corzine and the toll hike plan. Did her editors know that 24 hours later she was accepting a job from the man about whom she was writing???
Please pick me, Governor, pick me! me! ...
How many other statehouse reporters, do you suppose, were interested in this job? And will the rejected now turn on Corzine with a vengeance?
