Call Nancy Pelosi Today!
RUTHERFORD – Instead of hosting a non-news conference in Teaneck, Rep. Steve Rothman (D- 9th District) should be back in Washington, demanding that Congress get back to work solving the nation’s energy crisis, said Republican congressional candidate Vince Micco
Micco said Rothman and the Democratic majority in Congress have abandoned the public on energy issues and are playing politics with oil rather than trying to develop a national energy policy
“As I predicted when Congress walked out two weeks ago for a 5 week vacation, the Democrats like Rothman don’t want to solve the energy problems; they want to politick on them,” said Micco.
“The families of the ninth district who are struggling to pay for gasoline and heating oil don’t want to hear Steve Rothman make irrelevant remarks about John McCain. They are paying him to develop an energy solution. But he’s too busy taking a vacation.
Micco said Rothman should be joining with constituents in demanding that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi call Congress back to session to develop an energy policy.
“Maybe Mr. Rothman has lost Speaker Pelosi’s contact information. Just in case I am going to give it to him again and post it on the internet,” said Micco:

Micco on Energy Policy
“We need a comprehensive energy policy that includes oil exploration and investment in alternative energy “America must use every means at its disposal to increase the supply of the oil and gas we use today while investing to create the energy sources for tomorrow,
“Steve Rothman should be supporting deep water drilling. It will create thousands of jobs in the United States; many of those jobs could be in New Jersey.
“Micco said investment in deep water drilling in the North Sea off the coast of Norway is growing at an astonishing pace. China recently agreed to buy a Norwegian drilling company for $2.5 billion. Investment in Norway’s oil and natural gas industry will rise to a record $25 billion in 2008, according to a report by Bloomberg News.
“The United states should be capitalizing on the world wide demand for oil now rather than becoming a victim of it. We should be competing with China not just at the Olympics but in worldwide energy markets.
“It’s very sad that liberal Democrats like Steve Rothman, Jon Cozine and Nancy Pelosi are refusing to explore options that will stabilize oil prices, and create jobs for Americans,” said Micco.
“They are wedded to a failed economic and social policy that is taking its toll on American families.”
