Is Guy Talarico the Michael Brown of Bergen County?

The turmoil among Republicans in Bergen County continues to get worse. The GOP organization candidates for Freeholder -- Robert Yudin, Paul Duggan and Charles Kahwaty - filed individual, separate nominating petitions -- which means that there could be no draw for them as a slate.  Their names were drawn individually for ballot position.  No BCRO representatives attended yesterday's ballot draw.

The problem here is that without joint Freeholder candidates, BCRO doesn't have aline because they have no column of their own.  That means that the rival slate -- headed by State Senate candidate Kevin O'Toole -- which filed Freeholder candidates on a joint position, automatically received column 1.

Kevin's team won't get the line. Hell have no fury like a Donovan spurned. Just like Kathe to join Kevin in attempting to further splinter the Bergen GOP.

Party Smarty

When was the last time the Bergen County GOP was actually taken seriously? I'll tell you when. Jim Sheehan was in charge. And Joe Ferriero screws up so much that no one takes advantage of that. Dennis McNerney is probably the Forrest Gump of Jersey politics and still the Republicans can't get out of there own way. Todd Caliguire? Give me a break. He can't win at dog catcher. Shill for Talarico who is just becoming more and more of a boil on the butt of Bergen County Republican politics. Time capsule 10 years ago and a Democrat couldn't show his or her head. Now, the embarassment of the Republicans has boiled down to Talarcio and his minions doing the two-step while Napoleanic Ferriero does his jig on their graves. Pathetic.

Kevin Collins is at it again

Yes kevin darn her, darn her to heck for following Title 19. Here's an thought, maybe if someone had coordinated the petitions and made sure they were filed properly, there wouldn't have been an issue. But you're right, it's her fault. It's always someone else's fault, isn't it. By the way "further" splintering the Bergen GOP implies that there is something left to splinter.  That horse left the barn a long time ago.

i suppose you can do another press release. If i recall, it'll go like this. We're like Reagan he's good.... they're like Whitman, she's bad.

Do us a favor, leave personalities out of this. We've got real problems in this county and personal attacks are not going to solve them.

What is the objective here ?

Ok, There was an official convention with 4 Candidates and 3 of them won.The Convention was for the Bergen CountyRepublicans ? They all filed supposedly with the same slogan. Two of the Candidates endorsed O Toole so what is the big deal ?They finally get a star candidate Charles Kahwatypast president of the Bergen Bar association and Kathy wants to throw him off the line? Can anyone tell us county committee members why we aredoing this, especially now when we need unity. ?

Somewhere b/w live free or die and famous potatoes is the truth

If the R’s weren’t so busy fighting maybe they would look to the possible cause and not the effect. Rumor has it Loretta Weinberg is trying to move her entire slate that was off the BCDO line onto the line with her now because they were “bracketed hence the rumors of the deal going sour and how fitting when Corzine is out of commission (stay tuned I’m sure Ferriero isn’t going to sit by and let it happen). By Loretta’s philosophy – Kathe would then have no choice on the R side to allow “bracketing when people filed as individuals. If BCRO wasn’t so interested in screwing Otoole maybe the leadership would have made sure everything was ok with the petitions for the freeholders and some assembly districts, without thinking that they can just appoint where they want. For the 3 Freeholders sit back and watch to see what a possible court case looks like as this might help or hurt you.

Collins is no Reagan

To paraphrase a dead guy, 'I knew Ronald Reagan, and Kevin Collins is no Ronald Reagan!' I would venture to say he's no Dan Quayle for that matter and that is saying something. Collins is a potatoe-head.

Competence is the issue, not Roses, Asian or otherwise...

Guy, no doubt with the expert help of a prized consultant, doesn't get enough valid signatures on the 36th District Petition, so Sarlo goes unchallenged. Hard to rail against encap when you don't field a candidate. But not to worry we have seven of them running for Senate and Assembly in the 40th District.

Then, no doubt following that same genius's advice, gets the 40th District BCRO Team to use Reagan in their slogan. Oops, guess the only thing wrong with that is they didn't read the rules and after filing had to change the slogan in Bergen & Passaic.

And speaking of rules, it's obvious that neither Guy nor his prenicious consulari bothered to read what they were in regard to filing petitions for Freeholder, probably because Guy was too busy misreading the BCRO By-Laws so that he and he alone got to make the call as to who got the line in the 40th District.

District Chair ???

With all the finger pointing. Is not the initial onus on both the candidate and his immediate District chair to get the petition signatures. They did it in 37 and 38 without the Chairmans involvement ?

District Chair or County Chair?

Dear Humble Servant,

Just one question: Granting that the initial onus is on the candidates and District Chair, ultimately whose responsibility is it.

message noted.

Yes you are correct, and just maybe the role of a chairman must be redefined. If you can't delegate these tasks to your district chair what then ,?Trying micro managing all 70 towns. This is a full time job. 24/7 - 365 Maybe all cc members are at fault here. What is your solution ?

Solution

No one expects the Chairman to do everything. That is impossible. A Chairman must establish priorities. In Guy's case, the priority was recuting candidates to create a primary among Republicans in the 40th District while letting Sarlo, the poster boy for the Ferriero Democrat machine, skate free. In fact the only opposition to the Democrats in the 36 District was supplied not by Guy but by Kevin O'Toole as Chairman of Essex County.

Ferriero, with immense power and all the money he could want, avoids a divisive primary and turns his eye towards November. For the second year in a row, Talerico, with no power and almost no money, engages in an ill-advised, divisive and costly primary that virtually assures the re-election of the Democrat incumbents.

I don't think I have to tell you who should be fired first.
