Among statehouse insiders, there is still considerable buzz over the reassignment of Governor Jon Corzine's traveling aide, Samantha Gordon, to a different front office position. Gordon was with Corzine when he was seriously injured in an April high speed car crash; her injuries were not severe.
Two things make this story unlikely to go away anytime soon: the Governor's office hasn't offered details of Gordon's status, which came just as Trooper Robert Rasinski, who was driving the Governor's car, resumed his role with the Executive Protection Unit; and the involvement of Corzine friend/fixer Nancy Dunlap.
Sources say that Dunlap was involved in the Gordon reassignment, and that Gordon did not want to leave her old post. Another source said that Gordon made a personal appeal to Corzine to save her job, but was told it was out of his hands. Dunlap is an attorney and one of Corzine's closest personal friends, but she has no formal role in state government.
In the Star-Ledger's Auditor column last week, Corzine spokeswoman Lilo Stainton suggested that there is not much to the Gordon story. "We have even helped her pursuing a number of opportunities," Stainton told the newspaper. "The timing is ironic. There's no cause-and-effect here."
Apparently, the GOP vice presidential nominee -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin -- has come as a huge surprise to Democrats.

What happened to the Katz E-mail's?
Corzine seems to have too many closest personal friends. Carla Katz hasn't been satisfactorily resolved concerning such a gross conflict of interest.
Corzine's obscene transfers of real estate and cash to the head of the CWA union reeks of impropriety. He had a fiduciary duty to the taxpayers to negotiate the best deal with the CWA union. His relationship with Katz seriously deminishes his independence. He is already guilty of ethics violation by his participation in these negotiations. His refusal to put up a defense, sharing the e-mails, should be enough to convict him. Now Corzine seems to want to dig deeper.
It appears that Corzine's defense is that he is a victim of undue influence from Mr. Johnson.
"The ultimate decision about what is acceptable as right and wrong will be made not by individual wisdom but by the disappearance of the groups that have adhered to the 'wrong' beliefs." - F. A. Hayek
there is no connection
There is no connection between the two cases mentioned. Furthermore neither reeks of anything. Corzine did not just give money and land to the President of a Union he gave it to his ex-girlfriend. Administrative staff gets shifted all the time. I don't see too many GOPers complaining that Dick Cheney is not answering why he wont let our Congress read his documents. Talk about needing an explination.
Dunlap
who exactly is Nancy Dunlap? is she from D.C. or N.J.?

That should be the quote of the day!
Background on Dunlap
From Enligthennj: According to an article on Forbes, in May 2001 Jon Corzine paid $4.7 million for a house in a neighborhood near Washington, D.C. The house had sold for only $775,000 two years before he bought it, a difference of nearly $4 million. According to local records, the house's ownership was in the name of Nancy Dunlap, trustee of Laybourne, Lawrence E&D, in Newark, N.J., but local real estate sources said it was Corzine's D.C. residence. Interestingly Dunlap, a New Jersey native served as a Director of Participation 2000 (aka Emily's List, Campaign Corps), an organization that provided students and activists to work in Democratic political campaigns across the country. The group had been chaired by Corzine, one of the organization's biggest financial backers.
She is also
a trustee for Drumthwacket Foundation
it all comes down to this
Jon Corzine is a pimp.
She is the attorney for his
She is the attorney for his "blind trust."
Yet also alternately
Yet also alternately described as a member of his staff. So much for blind.
One more...
she controls Corzine's Blind trust of millions of dollars; she is not a New Jersey licensed attorney or atleast an active or inactive member; Laybourne, Lawrence E&D is not listed anywhere, it is not a NJ business entity; Dunlap is the registed member for Corzine fundraising committees; lastly she is also listed as a member of Dunlap Associates, but there is no listing for that either. Come on Wally give us the low down on this one.
She's a member of "his
She's a member of "his staff": http://www.teamacademy.org/support/thanks She's an attorney at a different firm (Attorney Nadborny & Brinberg LLP): http://www.fundrace.org/neighbors.php?search=1&type=loc&addr=81+Walker+S...
answer
so she's a NY lawyer, and handles some of Corzine's non-government work.
Ummm. You are usually a lot
Ummm. You are usually a lot more enlightening, Mr. D. She's a little more than that, isn't she? She's been listed on FEC docs as an official of several of his campaigns. She has been cited by third party groups as a member of his staff. Her name was on the deed of his Washington home. Yet she is responsible for his blind trust... how's that combination possible? And now she's making pesky staffer problems go away. Could be me, but after some initial skepticism, I think Wally's onto something.
Puzzled
When is the trooper going to be charged?
