Richard Dennison, the undertaker/lawyer challenging Diane Allen for State Senate in the 7th district, says that representatives of the Burlington County Prosecutors office visited a 17-year-old campaign volunteer at his high school to question him about a stolen campaign sign complaint from Allen's campaign.
A copy of Dennison's email explaining the situation:
[Name withheld], the campaign volunteer I referred to in my letter to Diane Allen of Monday night (i.e. the volunteer who saw my signs being stolen), had two representatives of the Burlington County Prosecutors Office visit him today.
The reason?
One of Diane Allen's people filed a complaint against him for stealing and destroying her signs.
It gets worse...
[Name withheld] is 17 years old and was visited today by these members of the prosecutor's office during school hours at his school, [XX] High School in [XX]. He was, quite obviously, frightened and embarrassed. Fortunately, Holy Cross told the members of the prosecutor's office that they couldn't question him during school hours unless they were prepared to arrest him. They were not. So, after school, they met him at his Burlington City home, which he shares with his mother, who happens to be a hard-working widow. This, naturally, frightened his mother and sent her into a panic state in which she likely still remains. He then had to follow these individuals over to the prosecutor's office in Mount Holly.
Thankfully, he was able to reach me and I rushed over to Mount Holly and I helped sort everything out with the prosecutor's office. They admitted that the charge was absolutely baseless and surmised, as I have, that it more than likely came as retribution for my threat to file suit against those responsible for stealing my signs.
I should note that as far as I can recall, [Name withheld], never had anything to do with the placement of any of my signs. He was clearly targeted with this baseless complaint because his name was included in my email to Diane Allen as a witness who had viewed someone almost certainly associated with Diane Allen's campaign steal my signs and replace them with "Allen, Propp, Griffin" signs.
Due to his age, I do not wish his name to be mentioned and I regret that I included it within my original email (which, incidentally, was never meant to be quoted by any news organization, including politicsnj.com).
I am outraged that a hard-working 17-year old who cares enough about the political process to lend a hand to my campaign has been hurt, as has his mother.
If Wally wishes to be "fair and balanced," he ought to take ten times the umbrage he took with my mere writing a letter to Diane Allen threatening to file a police report if my signs weren't returned.
For the record, I haven't yet filed any reports/complaints and wouldn't until I had hard proof (e.g., a license plate number). My email to Allen was meant, in a very serious way, to induce her to check around and see who the individual in the silver Chrysler minivan might have been and have him return my signs to me. That surely would have been what she would've done if she's the honorable person she purports to be. Obviously she is not honorable at all and the above actions against a well-meaning, good kid and his family makes this point more than clear.
Most "desperate and pathetic" action of the week here in the 7th district... you decide...

Can't Believe This One
From what I have been told, this teenager wasn't even involved in any sign stealing but instead was on an email list that Allen's people then used to accuse him of a crime he didn't commit. Dennison has made it clear that sign-stealing is against everything his campaign stands for; Allen, on the other hand, seems to make it a campaign policy to steal others' signs.
There are bottom-of-the-barrel moments for many campaigns -- the 8th district Republicans using a disgusting flier, etc. -- but this type of personal attack on a young man may take the cake. I would be surprised if this was an isolated incident, but this is the same person who received an ethics complaint for dredging up divorce records on an opponent, refused to meet with constituent groups and debate with Dennison, and allegedly had someone from her campaign stealing thousands of dollars worth of campaign signs, even from private property.
This just in!
Riverside PD investigated the report of someone stealing Allen signs. A license plate and description of the vehicle was given. Plate came back to the one and only Mr. Dennison of Florence. I wonder how many signs he fit in the Caddilac Escalade that he ws seen driving.
MartinOne misinformed
Do you check before you type? Monday October 29th, Delanco Candidates Night. Dennison - a no show. You keep repeating the same tired old BS. Lets hear something about Dennisons plans for NJ. Oh thats right, he is too busy Bush bashing to come up with an original thought.
DENNISON IS A FOOL
I am so gland Dennison is running around crying like a little baby. Now if this big old baby had just stopped acting like a jackass he may have had another shot another time to run for office, but right now, even the democrats in his own party are not supporting him!
Unbelievable Allegation
This allegation seemed so unbelievable to me, I had to check it out
myself. Turns out, it is true. Riverside PD took a complaint of
Rich Dennison, candidate for State Senate, destroying his opponent’s
signs on River Rd on Monday night. Good God Man! You are a
candidate for the State Senate! And you are out stomping on and
ripping up lawn signs? You are truly a disgrace. I'll admit - I hadn’t
heard that much about you until now, but it seems that the other side
is right – you are an embarrassment to yourself and especially to your
party. Poor Conners and Conaway! (I don't think this is what they
had in mind by having you "anchor" the ticket).
Republican Liars
While Rich did have to cancel out of the Delanco event because of bronchitis, he is an honest, forthright individual who would never steal signs, despite what his opponent's hinchmen might do in the Allen-road-to-nowhere releection attempt.
Rich's work on this campaign has been called the most impressive bid against Allen in years, and I can personally vouch from meeting him that he is an honest, decent person, what we would call down South "good folk." Republicans here may want to smear his name, but that is because the Allen campaign is devoid of substance. Attacking a 17-year-old boy takes the cake for Republican gutter politics, and Allen should offer multiple apologies for her actions in this campaign, from this strongarming and improper use of county prosecutors to her people stealing thousands of dollars worth of campaign signs to allegedly using taxpayer-paid workers do recon work on Dennison.
If justice is served, the Dennison-Conners-Conaway ticket will win on Tuesday.
Marty Sounds as Desperate
as Dennison. Really Marty, your rambling on and on because your boy Denny is on the outs with GOP and DEMS is making you sound riduculous.
Dennisons campaigned flubbed from the get go and he ever had the grasp nor the intelligence to understand the people of the 7th District. Instead he stamped his feet and made his campaign about Bush and how Diane is an R instead of trying to understand the District's needs.
Really Marty, Diane owes this loser nothing and the justice served will be sending Diane back to Trenton.
Martin, Martin, Martin
Of course we all know now from the Burlington County Prosecutor's office that the Allen campaign had nothing to do with the report of signs being stolen. You need to stop believeing Mr. Dennison. He's already made himself look bad and now he's making you look bad, too.
