Ross Golband, a junior at George Washington University who is an intern in Acting Governor Richard Codey's Washington office, attended a briefing this Wednesday on the 2006 national election landscape that was sponsored by the Hotline, a D.C-based political publication. Codey has not ruled out accepting an appointment to Jon Corzine's U.S. Senate seat, should Corzine win the governorship next month. If he took the seat, Codey would presumably stand for election in November 2006, likely against Republican Tom Kean, Jr. Tom Edwards, Codey's Washington office director, said he sent Golband, who interns three days a week in the office, simply because it was a chance for him to explore the D.C. political scene. "Don't misconstrue any of this," Edwards said. "It had nothing to do with anybody's political aspirations. It was an opportunity for a college student to get some exposure to some political prognosticating."

Well, if the polls are right Codey is the only guy out there who could beat Tom Kean, Jr. Dems might want him to take the seat (presuming a Corzine victory)...but does Codey really want to be in Washington?
