PolitickerNJ.com is pleased to welcome our two newest columnists: Michael Patrick Carroll and Carla Katz. Carroll, a Morris County Republican, was re-elected to his seventh term in the State Assembly last week. Katz is the President of the Communications Workers of America Local 1034; with over 16,000 members, Local 1034 is the largest CWA Local in the nation.

To hear his nonsense and her nonsense. This cite just keeps getting worse.
Oh Joy
It's bad enough we have to read her excuses and self-justification on NJ Voices over at the S-L.
First the Torch, now the Katz Meow. You folks should stick to what you do best: insider news.

Oh God...
That's it, I'm starting my own site. This Polidicker...er....Politicker place has gotten ridiculous. Can we Get McGreevey and Kushner to write some columns too????
Why don't you hire ...
... Monica Lewinsky to cover the 2008 presidential erec ... I mean, elections. It seems that whom you sleep with passes somehow for journalistic credentials in the brave new world of PolitickerNJ.
What happen to this
What happen to this website??????????????????
When is this website going to hire professional escorts???
Does "Wally Edge" even still work here?
Katz? you got to be kidding. Is Wayne Bryant going to write a column from his jail cell?
Who coined the phrase "lunatic fringe"......
The site went south as soon as they installed Bob Sommer as editor, and asked Torricelli to provide commentary. What a joke.
Carla
One wonders what about this woman is found to be so worthwhile as to give her a column. Maybe she's financing the site - she has cash on hand to invest.
This site is deteriorating, I agree with the other posters. It used to be full of insider news but now it's just people who don't have other ways to be heard (Torricelli, Whitman, Katz, Debbie what's-er-name, whose job is apparently to read the papers and write a current events report).
David Rebovich isn't even cold yet.....
Unreal
I agree with my fellow posters. Seems all you have to do is show up in Trenton, get your name in the headlines, or make enough noise and you get a column on PoliticsNJ --- err --- "the new and improved "POLITICKERNJ.COM".
How wonderful...
To Wally Edge, the folks at the Observer, et al. --- if you guys are keeping score, this isn't really a good move.
What, praytell, gives Carla Katz the right to comment on anything? She isn't exactly a shining example of what is "good" in New Jersey's political arena. In fact, giving her a spot at the table really makes you wonder what else you guys have coming that will further deteriorate this site.
And while Michael Patrick Carroll arguably has much more right to comment than Katz (and would never put him in the same category as the aforementioned), shouldn't we leave Legislators currently holding office off the columnist list? Its one thing to link to their blogs, its another to have them contributing to the site directly.
So we now have Whitman, Toricelli -- and Katz. Is there anyone else we can add? Perhaps we can add John Lynch, Bob Janiszewski, and Jim Treffinger to the list as well. And hold out a spot for Sharpe James and Wayne Bryant just as soon as they get back from their Federally-sponsored vacations behind bars.
Unreal...
Union First
Maybe it is time for Ms. Katz and the rest of the inept CWA leadership to concentrate on Union matters.
This group has been so full of themselves with the media attention they attained at last years budget and contract talks that they have forgotten that their Marx Brothers antics have done nothing more than embarrass their membership and alienate the average taxpayer.
It was their failure to negotiate the day after Thanksgiving as a day off that has caused them to make a scapegoat out of the Governor to coverup their screwup. One Local President of 1040 even sent out a letter to her members stating that it was not her fault that the membership would be working after thanksgiving, it was Corzine's!
Katz and the rest of this lightweight group should go back to the sidelines and concentrate on the needs of the membership.
CWA , which in political circles is beginning to stand for Can't Win Anything , were on the wrong side of quite a few important election battles last week and have alienated some key Democratic leaders is seeing the Unions political clout sliding while its Leadership is fighting about e-mails and days off.
This failure to attend to their main job has hurt the already tarnished image of the state workforce.
Katz might have some important things to say , but as a Union Official who represents a lot of people it would behoove her to concentrate on Union matters.
Bad on the site
I can understand Whitman and Toricelli, they're former political figures from the State, but Katz? geez, I know she's controversial, but is she now a political insider as well?
I guess the GOP was right about her having the inside with the Governor all along. Maybe she'll set the record straight and tell us what she and the Governor were talking about when the Governor capitulated on the Union contract? Now that'd be newsworthy. But I won't be holding my breath....
I'll give her credit for one thing, she sure can work her contacts for maximum effectiveness. First the Governor, then NJ.com, and now this site. Poor call whoever made it....
Katz is a an embarassment.
Maybe in her first column she can tell NJ how much money and "gifts" did she receive from Governor Jonny boy?
This website just took a huge step backward in allowing to give this political hack a forum.
Who's next? Mims Hackett? Maybe we can have equal time and hear what Golan is up to these days? You can't find a single legitimate voice for labor? Carla Katz has no place on this site as a source for opinion.
This only shows how myopic the liberal base of the Democratic Party truly is...
What a disgrace.
Carla Katz?????
How about naming her blog "Pillow Talk."
This Woman Just Won't Go Away !
Why in the world is Corzine's concubine being given a forum to present her self-serving views? This website is quickly losing any shred of credibility that it had. Witch Karla is the most conflicted woman in New Jersey and should not have a spot on this or any other website. In addition, she should resign her union position and simply concentrate on decorating her governor-paid-for mansion and condo. It's time to get out, hun. You are no longer needed or wanted. You are doing a disservice to the union membership who now find you to be nothing more than a severe liability. It's not time to use a forum such as this to further your own causes and to try to hold Johnnie boy hostage for more cash. Give it up, destroy your e-mails, and move along like a good little girl! Shame on this website for their lack of good judgement.

ROTFLMAO: Stop Whining and Read Katz's Column...
....if she says something you disagree with, or that you think is just plain stupid; chop away.
Dare to deal objectively with the actual substance/content of what she's saying, not with your own subjective assumptions/attitudes/hostilities.
If Katz's future commentaries are as cogent and rightheaded as her first one; her voice will be a strong/positive contribution to this site.
It seems that some folks here are intimidated by intelligent articulate progressive women.
