DONOVAN TEAM SEEKS COUNTYWIDE REFERENDUM ON DUAL OFFICE HOLDING
Resolution to let voters decide on county officials holding more than one elected office
(BERGEN COUNTY) – Freeholder Lisa Randall and Fair Lawn Councilman Ed Trawinski are launching a campaign to give Bergen County voters the right to determine if Freeholders should be limited to holding one elective office.
Randall and Trawinski are running for Freeholder on a ticket headed by County Executive candidate Kathe Donovan. Joining them on the ticket is Surrogate candidate Jae Kim. Donovan and Kim endorse the Randall/Trawinski initiative.
Trawinski will introduce a resolution at tonight's Fair Lawn council meeting calling on the Freeholders to join with Randall and support a countywide referendum on the issue this year. Randall will introduce the Freeholder Resolution tomorrow (Wednesday) night.
According to Trawinski and Randall, "Freeholders cannot meet their overall responsibility to Bergen County while they are also committed to the needs of one of the county's seventy municipalities. Dual job holding puts Freeholders in conflict whether perceived or otherwise. The public should have confidence that their countywide officials are concerned solely with what's best for Bergen County's quality of life and that vital services are delivered efficiently and cost effectively."
Trawinski and Randall said that the referendum would be directed at the State Legislature which has the sole ability to change the laws regarding dual job holding. Trawinski said that, minimally, he would be guided by the results of the referendum.

Gee, isn't this just a bit strange???? Here we have an issue
Gee, isn't this just a bit strange????
Here we have an issue that has been at the core of Todd Caliguire's candidacy that is being touted by none other than Fair Lawn Councilman Ed Trawinski, a man who FINALLY managed to win a local election last November (with Democratic cooperation nonetheless!!), but who has lost elections for Assembly in 2003, Congress in 2004, Freeholder, Surrogate, and anything else he could run for in the past.
And now he is a current insurgent candidate for Freeholder, while a Councilman!!?!??
Conflict, Ed????? I certainly think so!!!!!!

Oh yeah, one more thing.....I thought Northvale Mayor and longterm District 39 Assemblyman John Rooney was supporting this ticket.....or was that just him I saw choking up his dinner as he just read Ed's "new" idea.
The more I read what comes out of both camps of the Bergen Count
The more I read what comes out of both camps of the Bergen County Republicans, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand why they are in this situation and why they haven't made any progress in years.
First it's Kevin Collins grabbing at straws about bi lingual county publications, now it's a 5 time loser talking about dual office holding and is about to alienate some of his strongest supporters.
You can't make this stuff us, and they want to lead us?
The Bergen Democrats will be laughing all the way to November.
Wow Kathe certainly has a pair if she calls to end dual office h
Wow Kathe certainly has a pair if she calls to end dual office holding when she tried to get...not one...not two...but three public offices. And their list goes on...What about Megaphone Mike? Trawinski? Etc...
What I want to know is why hasn't Kathe relinquished her Clerk job? Oh I see...she doesnt have enough of a pair to give up her abilty to play Clerk while campaining because grasping at incumbency is her only hope.
