Tuesday night Chairman’s Reception raises nearly $120,000

HACKENSACK, N.J. (October 17, 2007) – The 2007 Bergen County Chairman’s Reception at the Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus brought in nearly $120,000 in a single evening.  The packed event exceeded its fundraising goal by 20 percent and included dozens of first-time contributors to county-level politics.

“I’m thrilled at your demonstration of support for our candidates and your confidence that the BCRO is on a new path,” Bergen County Republican Organization Chairman Rob Ortiz told the crowd of enthusiastic newcomers and party faithful.  “Your continued support will make a difference on Election Day this November, and the revitalization of the Republican Party in Bergen County will be evident on Election Days to come.”

Elected officials and candidates in attendance included State Senate Republican Leader Leonard Lance, Bergen County Clerk Kathleen Donovan, 39th District State Senator Gerry Cardinale, 40th District Assemblyman and State Senate candidate Kevin O’Toole, 40th District Assemblyman David C. Russo, Wayne Mayor and 40th District Assembly candidate Scott T. Rumana, Bergen County Sheriff candidate Harry Shortway, Bergen County Freeholder candidate Charles J.X. Kahwaty, Bergen County Freeholder candidate Paul Duggan, Bergen County Freeholder candidate Bob Yudin, 39th District Assemblywoman Charlotte Vandervalk, 26th District Assemblyman and State Senate candidate Joe Pennacchio, and 37th District State Senate candidate Clara Nibot. 

In addition to the excitement about the future of the Party, there was a buzz when “Sopranos” star Vincent “Johnny Sack” Curatola made a surprise appearance with his wife, Mrs. Maureen Curatola. 

The event committee co-chairs were Joseph A. Caruso, Lewis M. Eisenberg, Anne Evans Estabrook, Assemblyman O’Toole and Andy Unanue.  Vice chairs were Senator Cardinale, Councilman Joe Crifasi, John M. Inganamort, Ray Koski, Eleanore S. Nissley, Ryan J. Peene, Assemblyman Russo and Keith Zakheim.  

The host committee was Mayor Christopher C. Botta, Chris D. Calabrese, David S. Catuogno, Benedict A. Focarino, Councilman Michael R. Friscia, Henry S. Kane, Matthew P.
