GREENWALD STATEMENT ON GOVERNOR'S ADDRESS
(TRENTON) -- Assembly Budget Committee Chairman Louis Greenwald (D-Camden) today released the following statement in response to Governor Jon S. Corzine's State of the State address:"For the 1.3 million New Jerseyans without health insurance, today's address provides hope that change is on the horizon for New Jersey's health care system.
"The Governor rightfully noted that in a state as well-off as New Jersey -- where many of the world’s medicines are developed -- it is shameful that too many of our residents literally have no where to go when they get sick.
"Whether it is ensuring that all qualified residents are covered under Medicaid, or that every eligible child is enrolled in KidCare, we must find the resolve to do more.
"It is time to redouble our efforts to provide access to quality health care for New Jersey's uninsured and under-insured.
"Health care reform and property tax reform are inextricably linked if we are to truly make New Jersey more affordable for all residents.
"Hopefully, we can put this critical issue near the top of the list of successes Governor Corzine can highlight in 2008's State of the State address."
