(TRENTON) -- Assembly Speaker Joseph J. Roberts Jr. issued the following statement today on a proposed 15 percent cut in salary and benefit costs for state government workers:

ROBERTS STATEMENT ON SWEENEY/GREEN/MORIARTY PLAN
TO CUT SALARIES, BENEFITS 15 PERCENT

(TRENTON) -- Assembly Speaker Joseph J. Roberts Jr. issued the following statement today on a proposed 15 percent cut in salary and benefit costs for state government workers:

"Before the current budget review process began, I urged a healthy debate on savings and efficiencies that could help mitigate the need for higher taxes.
"I have not seen the details of this proposal. I look forward to reviewing it and fully discussing its elements with Assemblymen Green and Moriarty."
