NEW REPUBLICAN ASSEMBLY MEMBERS SWORN-IN
Three new Republican Assembly members were sworn into office today on the first day of the 212th Session of the New Jersey Legislature at the General Assembly's reorganization meeting at the War Memorial in Trenton.
The three new members taking the oath of office were Assemblywoman Jennifer Beck, R-12, Monmouth and Mercer, Assemblywoman Amy Handlin, R-13, Monmouth and Middlesex, and Assemblywoman Marcia Karrow, R-23, Hunterdon and Warren.
The oath of office was administered by Assembly Republican Leader Alex DeCroce with Assembly Speaker Joseph Roberts presiding.
"I am looking forward to this opportunity to have a positive impact on the direction of our state," said Beck. "I am anxious to get to work on behalf of my constituents and to begin working on priorities such as ethics reform and property tax relief."
"Joining the Legislature will afford me the opportunity to continue to work on the issues I have advocated as a Freeholder in Monmouth County," Handlin said. "I will begin working right away on government reform and tax relief initiatives as well as efforts to clean up the political process."
"I have a lot of ideas about how we can change Trenton to streamline and lower the cost of government and provide tax relief to homeowners," Karrow said. "Whether it be on farmland preservation issues, tax relief, or ethics reform, I intend to do the best job I can representing the people of my district in Trenton."
