Another Bob Martin for Senate campaign that's full of (it)

The hype on Bob Martin, the self-funding Republican Senate candidate in the 15th district against Shirley Turner, turned out to be exactly that. Martin has raised $124,221 and spent $106,925 -- not exactly an exorbitant amount in a strong Democratic district, and less than half what his campaign boasted he was spending. He's been outspent Turner, who has $445,141 in her warchest to spend if she was nervous, which she is not. So basically, Martin is a self-funder being outspent by his opponent in a district his party hasn't won since 1993.

No wonder Bob Martin wouldn’t disclose how much money he was planning to spend when he sold The Star-Ledger's Joe Donohue a bill of goods earlier this month.

Joe Donohue

Donohue got played big time and so did his paper, who but this bs story on the front page of the NJ section. The clear inference was that Martin was going to spend a huge amount.

"Campaign finance reports reflecting his spending since then won't be public until later this month, but over the summer he ran cable television ads throughout the 15th Legislative District in Mercer County. Consultants say the cost could range in the hundreds of thousands of dollars."

This isn't a Presidential race but...

for a State Senate race I give Bob kudos for making a strong, strong effort in what was thought to be a Democratic bastion. If every district was targeted this aggressively you would see lots of Republicans winning "Democrat-favoring"
areas.
