Americans for Prosperity Foundation Kicks Off “Taxpayer Minute Radio Ad Campaign in New Jersey

TRENTON -- The New Jersey chapter of the Americans for Prosperity Foundation today launched the first installment of its "Taxpayer Minute," a one-minute radio commentary featuring the group’s state director Steve Lonegan speaking out on state fiscal issues. The Taxpayer Minute ads began airing on stations around New Jersey and New York City today.

"You can’t cut one tax by raising another, Lonegan says in the first commentary. Talking about New Jersey’s high property taxes, the Bogota, NJ, Mayor notes that “first they gave us a sales tax, then an income tax and then they raised both again and again. McGreevey raised our income tax to 9 percent and Corzine raised our sales tax to 7 percent, both combined to be the highest in the nation. Yet our property taxes continue to remain high.

“As a Mayor, I know that you cannot control property taxes until you control the liberal politicians who force high cost mandates on our towns and schools.

In the inaugural Taxpayer Minute ad, Lonegan promotes the AFP Foundation’s Taxpayer Action seminars, over 75 of which have already been held in every county in the state. The seminars, Lonegan says, “give taxpayers the tools they need to stop Trenton from making things even worse.

“The politicians have failed. It’s up to you, Lonegan says, urging listeners to go to www.taxpayerminute.com and “fight back.

The Taxpayer Minute airs Tuesday and Friday mornings on WABC, WAWZ 99.1 FM, WBSS 97.3 FM, WGYM 1580 AM, WKXW 101.5 FM and WOND 1400 AM and Tuesday and Friday midday on WABC, WOND and WGYM. To listen to the first Taxpayer Minute ad online, visit http://www.taxpayerminute.com/

This is excellent. Mayor Lonegan is stepping up his offensive on

This is excellent. Mayor Lonegan is stepping up his offensive on tax and spend political hacks in Trenton, regardless of what side of the political aisle they're on.

One of the biggest reasons Republicans cannot take advantage of Democrat blunders in New Jersey is because over the years New Jersey Republicans have been for the most part, just as bad when it comes to spending. New Jersey taxpayers do not see a significant enough difference between the way either party conducts business. Therefore, nobody really sees the need to make a change.

Steve Lonegan is the only political figure in New Jersey that is injecting any passion into this issue as far as Republicans are concerned and for that I salute him.
