Democrats eyeing a pickup opportunity in the 3rd District U.S. House race got some good news this week.
The Rothenberg Political Report, a nonpartisan Washington tip-sheet, has shifted the line in the race to the Democrats’ favor.
“With Ocean County, it might be difficult for (Democrat John) Adler ever to be comfortable, but the national environment continues to favor Democrats, and this seat is one of a long list of GOP headaches,” Rothenberg’s Nathan Gonzalez wrote. “Unless there is a fundamental political shift, this race is Toss-Up/Tilt Democratic.”
Democrat Adler and Republicans Jack Kelly, Justin Murphy, and Chris Myers are running for the seat of departing Republican U.S. Rep. Jim Saxton.

good call
Considering that the NRCC spent nearly a third of its cash-on-hand in a red-to-blue loss of Hastert's seat, and the fact that Adler got more in fundraising last quarter than Kelly-Myers combined in their entire bids, I would say that Rothenberg's change to "Tilt Democratic" is an astute one. At this point, with major endorsements and a nearly 4-1 cash advantage, Adler couldn't be in better positioning for November.
Besides Rothenberg's rating, Chris Cilizza at the Washington Post rated the 3rd as a possible Democratic pick-up, as did Evans and Novak in their political report.
Norcorss
George Norcoss is turning South Jersey into a Democratic powerhouse. Adler's ascension to congress is proof of that expansion of political power.
If Andrews beats Lautenberg, he'll be the undisputed leader of New Jersey Democratic politics.
Vote Column "A" - All the way!
Simple mat for the simpleton
Apparently, simple elementary mathematics is not a requirement to become an "educator" or pursue a PhD. Only in Wonderland can $529,320 raised in the first quarter of 2008 for John Adler be "more combined" than $640,000 reported for Chris Myers and Jack Kelly. That is not including the few thousand that I am sure Justin Murphy will eventually report. Ah yes, those wonderful inside the beltway prognosticators. Seems to me Congresswoman Susan Bass Levin's career is skyrocketing. Oh wait - she was picked by many of those same geniuses to beat Saxton in 2000 but lost every town except Willingboro and barely escaped her own town of Cherry Hill with a victory. I can't wait til the general rolls around and the wonderful endorsements Adler has gotten come back to haunt him. Won't help that he is getting a large share of his PAC funds from the far left of the Democrat party. That won't play in the majority of the district. Keep up the good work Alice. Maybe some day the tea pot will teach you to add.
Joke
What a biased piece of garbage. A far stretch would be to say a Toss-up without Saxton. Burlington and Ocean will never vote for Adler, Thank God. My favorite is when they put Sexton on the ballot, boy were people confused Sexton-Saxton don't know who to vote for, so confused. Martin doesn't realize Burlington and Ocean are not full of mindless people he and Norcross are used to dealing with.
I am sure
I am sure you meant Ocean County and not Monmouth, as Monmouth is not in the 3rd - but your summary is dead on.
Sorry
Thanks OC, you are correct. It's hard to think straight after reading a post from Martin. That MANBAG just throws me off.
thanks
Thanks for the laugh.
