The age issue
By Wally EdgeAn interesting observation on NJN last night from Democratic strategist Julie Roginsky: if the Republicans nominate 71-year-old John McCain, who won the New Jersey GOP presidential primary by a huge margin on Tuesday, does that take the issue of Frank Lautenberg’s age (84) off the table in the race for United States Senator?

Frank's age; Julie's math
Lautenberg is closer in age to John McCain's mother than he is to John McCain!
The only way Lautenberg
Would be able to overcome the age thing is if he actually challenges McCain to a fight and then whips him...which ain't likely. Hell, I think Mother McCain could whip Frank's butt!

John McCain's mother gave birth to him at age 13? I did not know that.
Age Issue
What's more likely to happen is that when national Democrats bring up the age issue agains McCain (age 72), Lautenberg will be more likely have to deal with it.
Another foolish Roginsky statement
The beneficiary of habitually poor Republican campaigns in this state, Roginsky added another foolish statement to her collection. She said the record turnout in New Jersey should give Republicans pause. While I am convinced Republicans in New Jersey have many more years to go until the likes of Dale Florio and Roger Bodman are calling fewer and fewer of the shots, the record turn out is most likely attributed to leaning Dem unaffiliated voters coming out to either support or stop either Obama or Clinton.
I think some third grader first made this point. Too bad Roginsky is so poorly suited to add anything of value to the debate. With the exception of providing rich material for losers like me that actually pay attention to this site.
In conclusion, McCain will be 79 if he serves two terms, fully 5 years younger than Rip Van Lautenberg is today.

Mr. Carrick needs a math lesson
Carrick - Are you really that dumb? Mrs. McCain is 95, making the difference between her age and Lautenbergh's age 11 years. Senator McCain is 71, while Senator Lautenberg is 84; the difference being 13 years. So, dumbell, Lautenberg is closer in age to Mccain's mother than he is to Sen. McCain.
Obviously, math is not your strong suit.
On the age issue, if McCain is elected and serves for 2 terms, he will STILL be younger at the end of those eight years than Lautenberg is today.

McCain looks 71..but doesn't act it..
McCain looks his age, of course all those battle scars and his battle with skin cancer couldn't have helped. That being said there is no doubt that he's with it and full of youth and his mother is a testament to that..even she's still with it.
Not sure the same can be said about Lautenberg..that and the Dems are foaming at the mouth for him to decide not to run. Knowing New Jersey, that'll happen 1 or 2 months before the election.
More than math
Is Julie that naive to think that every smart adult in NJ, thinks Frank is too old to serve? Come on. He was standing next to Lincoln when he addressed the Assembly in the 1860's. Why is it the GOP is always wrong, but heaven forbid you same something about the chest-thumping, self-righteous Dems? OK, so how will it take for one of these left wingers to respond?
